সম্প্রসারিত ভাব : কর্মেই মানুষের যথার্থ পরিচয়। মানুষের জীবন সীমিত। এই সীমিত সময়ের মধ্যে মানুষ পৃথিবীতে যে ভূমিকা পালন করেন তার মধ্যেই ফুটে উঠে তার পরিচয়। ইংরেজিতে একটি কথা আছে,  “Man does not live in years but in deeds.” মানুষের জীবন স্বল্পস্থায়ী হতে পারে, হতে পারে দীর্ঘস্থায়ী। জীবনের ব্যাপ্তিকাল দিয়ে মানুষের মূল্যায়ণ করা হয় না। মানুষের প্রকৃত মূল্যায়ন হয় তার কর্ম দ্বারা। বয়স বেশি হলেই বাঁচা সার্থক হয় না। বরং যারা অমোঘ মৃত্যুর কথা জেনেও সংক্ষিপ্ত জীবনে মানব কল্যাণে সুকীর্তির স্বাক্ষর রেখে যান, তাঁরা মরে গিয়েও চিরকাল মানুষের হৃদয়ে অমর হয়ে থাকেন। মানুষ তাঁদের সুকীর্তির কথা শ্রদ্ধাভরে স্মরণ করে মাথা নোয়ায়। দৈহিক মৃত্যু ঘটলেও মানুষের মাঝে তাঁরা বেঁচে থাকেন এমন লোকের সত্যিই মৃত্যু নেই। পৃথিবীর স্মরণীয় ও বরণীয় ব্যক্তিগণ শুধু তাদের কর্মের মাধ্যমেই আমাদের মধ্যে অমর, অক্ষয় ও শ্রদ্ধাভাজন হয়ে আছেন। পৃথিবীতে বহু লোক অল্প বয়সে মৃত্যুবরণ করেও তাদের কর্মের জন্য অমর হয়ে আছেন। আবার কেউ দীর্ঘায়ু পেলেও তাদের নাম পরিচয় মিশে গেছে কালস্রোতে। বালক ক্ষুদিরাম দেশের জন্য প্রাণ দিয়ে অমর হয়েছেন। বরকত, সালাম, রফিক, জব্বার বাংলা ভাষা আদায়ে অকালে মৃত্যুবরণ করলেও বাংলার মানুষ কোন দিন তাদেরকে ভুলবে না। মাত্র একুশ বছর বেঁচে থেকে প্রতিভাবান কবি সুকাšত ভট্টাচার্য আমাদের মাঝে অমর হয়ে আছেন। মহানবী হযরত মুহাম্মদ (স), সক্রেটিস, প্লেটো, এরিস্টটল, আব্রাহাম লিংকন, মাদার তেরেসা, রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর, কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম-এঁদের প্রত্যেকেই মৃত্যু বরন করেছেন। কিন্তু তাঁদের আদর্শ চিরকাল স্মরনীয় হয়ে থাকবে। কর্মই তাদেরকে বাঁচিয়ে রেখেছে-বয়স নয়।

মন্তব্য : বিশ্বজগতে অনন্ত কাল প্রবাহে মানুষের জীবন নিতান্তই ক্ষণস্থায়ী। এ ক্ষণস্থায়ী জীবন ও মহিমা পেতে পারে মানুষের মহৎ কর্মে ও অবদানে। তখন মৃত্যুর পরও মানুষ স্মরণীয় হয়ে থাকে। তাই বয়স মানুষের জীবনের সার্থকতার মাপকাঠি নয়, মহৎ কীর্তির মাধ্যমেই মানুষের জীবন সফল ও সার্থক হয়।

Mechanisms for assuring the best possible quality must be put in place in the various institutions to enable them take a critical self analysis of their programmes and institutional capacity. Universities need to ensure international standards of quality and education that is professionally and socially relevant to 21st-century realities.

The seats of higher learning must prepare graduates to live and work in a globalized world with equal advantage. Majority of our population lives in rural areas, but no serious steps have been taken to provide better educational facilities, quality education and trained teachers to ensure enrollment and attendance of children in schools in the rural settlements. So we have to solve this problem. Most countries are devoting a large share of the national income and encouraging the private sector to improve the academic institutions. Bangladesh needs to follow suit. We have to ensure Training and supporting teachers and supervisors so they are able to provide an inclusive education that ensures all students can reach their potential.
