race finished =36*4/9
=16

by o’clock=20*.70
=14

by 1 o clock not finished =20-14=6(Ans)

35-A: A triangular plot with sides 25 feet, 40 feet and 55 feet is to surrounded by a fence built on pillars set 5 feet apart. How many pillars will be required to surround the plot?

To fence the 25 feet long side, required number of pillars = (25÷5) + 1 = 6
To fence the 40 feet long side, required number of pillars = (40÷5) + 1 = 9
To fence the 55 feet long side, required number of pillars = (55÷5) + 1 = 12

As the plot is triangular and each of the two sides have a common vertex, total number of pillars needed = (6+9+12) – (1×3) = 24.

35-B: In a class of 78 students 41 are taking French, 22 are taking German. Of the students taking French or German, 9 are talking both courses. How many students are not enrolled in either course?

35-C: The average age of 12 children is 15 years. If another child comes the average age comes to 14. What is the age of the new child?

So, the total age of 12 children = 15×12 = 180 years.

After the new children comes,
The average age of 12+1 = 13 children = 14 years.
So, the total age of 13 children = 14×13 = 182 year.s

Therefore, the age of the new child is = 182-180 = 2 years.

35-D: Find the value of n, if 27^(-1/3)n = 243
==>
27^(-1/3)n = 243
=> 27^(-n/3) = 243
=> 3^3(-n/3) = 3^5
=> 3(-n/3) = 5
=> -n = 5
=> n = -5.

Answer: (-5).

35-E: If 16+4x is 10 more than 14, what is the value of 8x?
==>
16+4x is 10 more than 14
=> (16+4x) – 14 = 10
=> 16+4x-14 = 10
=> 4x = 10-2
=> 4x = 8
=> x = 2.

So, 8x = 8×2 = 16
