Total deposit stood at BDT 14.20 trillion in FY21 which was 45.0 percent of GDP (FY21) up from 3.37 trillion in FY10 (42.2 percent of GDP).

The overnding objectives of these policy measures are to minimize the negative impacts of the pandemic and to bring economic activities back to the pre-COVID-19 level. These policy measures are expected to make financing conditions easy for investors, entrepreneurs bodies who now can access more favorable financing sources to resume their business in full swing. It is likely that the economy will recuperate from lost investment and consumption and bounce back to the economic growth momentum observed in the last decade.

What they lack is the legal tenure the will allow them to build for themselves, to develop their communities, and to obtain the required public services. Urban land reform which will provide the lame amounts of land necessary for expanding low-income housing cannot be avoided.
