উত্তরঃ to ব্যাখ্যাঃ একটির চেয়ে অন্যটি অধিকতর বেশি পছন্দ করা অর্থে Prefer এর পরে Preposition ‘to’ বসে। বাক্যটির বাংলা অর্থ সে চায়ের চেয়ে দুধ বেশি পছন্দ করে।

৭। Make complete sentences with following phrases with meaning:

(a) Bag and baggage উত্তরঃ Meaning: with all belongings (তল্পিতল্পা সহ): Marzia left home bag and baggage. অর্থঃ মার্জিয়া তল্পিতল্পা সহ বাড়ি ত্যাগ করলো।

(b) All on a sudden উত্তরঃ Meaning: suddenly (হঠাৎ): His father died all on a sudden. অর্থঃ তার বাবা হঠাৎ মারা গেল।

৮। Translate into English:

(a) আমার একটি কলম আছে। উত্তরঃ I have a pen.

ব্যাখ্যাঃ আছে অর্থে have বসে এবং বাক্যটি Present Indefinite Tense হয়।

(b) সততাই সর্বোৎকৃষ্ট পন্থা। উত্তরঃ Honesty is the best policy.

ব্যাখ্যাঃ চিরন্তন সত্য বুঝাতে Present Indefinite Tense এ Translate করতে হয়।

৯। Correct the following sentences with appropriate verbs:

(a) The earth (move) round the sun. উত্তরঃ The earth moves around the sun.

ব্যাখ্যাঃ চিরন্তন সত্য বুঝালে সেই বাক্য Present Indefinite Tense হয়। Subject 3rd Person Singular Number হলে Verb এর সাথে s/es যুক্ত হয়।

(b) Laila is (dance) now. উত্তরঃ Laila is dancing now.

ব্যাখ্যাঃ কোন বাক্যে now, at this moment, at present ইত্যাদি থাকলে বাক্যটি Present Continuous Tense (Subject+Verb ing) হয়।

(a) Life উত্তরঃ lives

ব্যাখ্যাঃ কোন Singular Word এর শেষে f/fe থাকলে সেই Singular Number কে Plural করতে হলে f/fe এর স্থলে ves যুক্ত হয়।

(b) Baby উত্তরঃ babies
